Day 1 - A Kingdom Will - Letting go of Contempt and Anger

  • Decide to let Jesus begin to work on you

  • Ask God to show you places in your life where anger and contempt lie.

  • Admit when you are tempted to anger or to respond in anger, immediately ask Jesus for help. Did he not already help you in need before?

  • Confess God’s truth: “Your anger doesn’t bring about my rightness” (James 1:20), “You promised you will care for me, so I don’t have to use anger to get something for myself.” “You made this person and love them and help me not see or treat them as anything less than valuable in your eyes.” Make practical steps of apology and reconciliation.

  • Stop: when you realize you feel anger. You may need to remove yourself from the situation. (Go back to Admit)

  • Accountability: Find other Christians to share with. This is a critical step because by yourself you will probably not overcome habits of anger and contempt.

Day 2 - A Kingdom Body - Letting go of Lust and Obsessive Desires

  • Decide to let Jesus begin to work on you.

  • Ask Jesus for help. Did he not already help you in need before?

  • Admit/confess to God to places in your life where there is intentional lust and the desire to have and possess. Admit them to him and make practical steps of setting it down or giving things up.

  • Confess God’s truth: “Life is not in physical gratification but in you” (Romans 1:18-25), “You provide intimacy and enjoyment. I choose to see people and things the way you do.” “You are my shepherd, so I have everything I need (Psalm 23:1-4)

  • Stop: when you realize you feel anger or tempted to lust. You may need to remove yourself from the situation. (Go back to Admit)

  • Accountability: Find other Christians to share with. This is a critical step because by yourself you will probably not overcome habits of lust.

Day 3- Kingdom Words - Letting go of Verbal Manipulation

  • Decide To let Jesus begin to work on you.

  • Ask for His help to help you recognize when you use words in a manipulative way.

  • Admit when you are tempted to think or act out of anger, lust, or verbal manipulation.

  • Confess God’s truth: You forgave me from the cross. You did not manipulate me so I will speak plainly and not use my words to manipulate others. (2 Cor. 4:2, Eph 4:15)

  • Stop: when you realize you are tempted to use words to get your own way. (Go back to Admit)

  • Accountability: Find other Christians to share with (women’s and men’s discipleship groups, women’s bible study, small groups, come talk to me or another strong Christian). This is a critical step because by yourself you will probably not overcome habits of being manipulative.

Day 4 - Kingdom Relationships - Letting go of Retaliation and Enemies

  • Decide to let Jesus begin to work on you.

  • Ask Jesus for help.

  • Admit the struggle to want to hate someone who has wronged you, or hate your enemy. Admit them to him and make practical steps of apology, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

  • Confess God’s truth: You forgave me from the cross, so you can help me also forgive. You did not treat me as I deserved so you can help me become a person who loves those who do not love me. I do not have the power to forgive, but your power can help me choose to forgive. (Romans 5:8-11, Matthew 6:12-15)

  • Stop when you feel wronged, or with your enemy. (Go back to Admit)

  • Accountability: Find other Christians to share with (women’s and men’s discipleship groups, women’s bible study, small groups, come talk to me or another strong Christian).
